Mumbai : Mr BV Jagdeesh, co-founder of the Valley-based Exodus, launched the Mumbai Data Center of NetMagic Solutions in which he is an investor. Net Magic also plans launches in Delhi, Bangalore, Chennai and Hyderabad.These data centres provide the physical environment to keep the server running. Mr Jagadeesh said: "This centre focuses on providing space which is the data centre itself, the network which is the bandwidth and several value-added services are primarily fine-tuned for the Indian market. The three services put together is the value that NetMagic offers to a customer in India."NetMagic is targeting the enterprises who need messaging services like e-mail, the ISPs who would use their facility to connect amongst themselves so that the connectivity between each other becomes smooth so that the bottleneck is eliminated or even a multinational Internet company targeting India.
Commenting on the investments, Mr Jagadeesh added that they have already raised $4 million in their first round of funding. The investments has come through the angel investors that include Mr Jagadeesh, Mr K B Chandrashekar (founders of Exodus), Mr Kanwal Rekhi, VCs like eVentures India and Global Technology Ventures.
Mr Jagadeesh's other investments in India include Plexus Technologies- an e-commerce solutions provider, and two other companies based in Bangalore - iNabling Technologies Pvt Ltd which plans on launching an affordable e-mail device next week. They plan to provide an e-mail appliance wherein users will be able to send and receive e-mail for as little as Rs 50 per month. Mr Jagadeesh's other investee company Edurite is in the education space.
