Hyderabad, Oct 27: In a bid to avail benefits of the increasing power bills, the Hyderabad-based mini cement unit Anjani Portland Cement Ltd (APCL) has proposed to take over the gas-based power generation division from its sister company Vennar Ceramics Ltd.Besides, the company also plans to expand its existing installed capacity from 600 tpd to 1,000 tpd during the current financial year, APCL managing director KV Vishnu Raju told The Financial Express. To facilitate the merger process, the company will call for an extra-ordinary general meeting of its shareholders to obtain their consent on the matter, Raju said. Apart from the low-capital cost, the merger of power plants will improve the bottom line of the company. At present, the company is using 60 per cent of the power requirements from this unit only, Raju said.
Further Raju said that APCL envisages an additional investment of a little over Rs 1.50 crore towards balancing equipment, enabling the plant to expand the capacity. The company, originally known as Shez Cements Ltd, had a long gestation period of over three years and was taken over by former Raasi Cements managing director Vishnu Raju, immediately after ICL-Raasi takeover fight. For the first quarter of the full capacity, APCL has reported a total income of Rs 7.26 crore and a net profit of Rs 0.07 crore. During the previous year, the company had posted a net loss of Rs 0.83 crore on a total income of Rs 2.79 crore.
