Karnataka enters MoU for 4G communication system

Bangalore, Nov 4: The Government of Karnataka has entered into a tripartite agreement with the US-based Charmed Technology and Software Technology Park of India, Bangalore (STPIB) for setting up a wireless multimedia broadband backbone, popularly known as fourth generation or 4G communication system.Terming the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) as `historic', Karnataka information secretary Vivek Kulkarni said, ``Our objective is to elevate Bangalore to the position of the world's number one high-technology city. By establishing and experimenting with a 4G network in Bangalore, we are taking a lead and leaping over 3G." Charmed Technology founder-CEO Alex Lightman said he was pleased to be associated with India and the city of Bangalore for an event that would lead to the unification of all media. "We are really looking forward to establishing and developing the world's first 4G wireless project in Bangalore," he said.
