GAVS eyes $10 million sales this fiscal

Our eFE Bureau
Chennai : GAVS Information Services Pvt Ltd, a two-year old software development company based in Chennai has opened its third software development centre here. Inaugurating the facility through a video conference, Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Pramod Mahajan said that India would achieve its economic sovereignty through the IT revolution now underway in the country.

"We are waging a second freedom struggle with IT as the means to achieve economic sovereignty. In the first freedom struggle we gained political sovereignty but we remain the prisoners of poverty. The second independence struggle with IT as a means will give us economic independence ending poverty in the next 8-10 years time", he said.

Mr Mahajan said, contrary to the old economy rules, which is capital intensive, knowledge is the base of new economy powered by the IT industry and co-operation, rather than competition, would ensure a win-winsituation for all players.

Mr Dharmendra Vasant, managing director, GAVS said that the new development centre is the result of two significant business gains from overseas clients. These are from the US-based Storage Technology Corporation Ltd and Johns Manville Corporation, he added. He said the company is eyeing a turnover of $10 million, a 100 per cent growth from the last year's level of $5 million.
