The Centre is considering giving a 10-year tax holiday to the food processing sector in order to give a boost to investment in this sector.

ICMF seeks removal of excise exemption for small spinners
At the ICMF executive committee meeting, spinners raised the issue about the excise exemption which created an unequal playing field. The apex body for the spinning industry, ICMF, will prepare the pre-budget memorandum based on the deliberations.

BoE gold sale turns bullion weak; slide in palmoil
Gold prices slid on Tuesday following fresh sale of gold by the Bank of England this morning that led to fall in overseas prices. Silver too dropped moderately in line with gold. There was fresh weakness in imported palmoil, while sugar too faced lower demand.
