Patiala-based Excellent Softtech Limited has tied up with Career Step of the US, the pioneers and leaders in education via Internet in quality medical transcription for providing MT training in the country.Having interests in power, hotel, industrial cables, entertainment, healthcare and finance, the medical transcription is the new focus area for Excellent Group, which would be providing training through Internet for the first time in the country. The ESL is a 100 per cent export oriented unit registered under the Software Technology Park scheme of government of India and has just set up an office in California. The Career Step is a registered body under the Utah Postsecondary Proprietary School Act. The medical transcription trainees thus automatically get globally recognised graduate certificates from Career Step of USA and assured jobs.
Chairman and managing director of Excellent Group Dhiraj Chalana observed that the trend in the international market indicates that on-line education was fast catching up and as per a report of Unesco, as many as 80 million students were enrolled for higher professional qualifications worldwide till recently. About the Indian scenario, he said that it is tipped to be IT opportunity of millennium for the country and IT-enabled services at present employ only about 60,000 people. However, as per the Nasscom study, this sector has potential to create more than one million additional jobs by year 2008 with an annual revenue of Rs 810 billion contrasted with a meagre Rs 9.8 billion two years ago in 1998. And interestingly, the medical transcription career would be a major revenue earner for the country.
Mr Chalana said that India was likely to emerge as a major player in the market in view of the fact that a huge pool of English language speaking and computer literate manpower exists in India. Then salary costs in this country were a fraction of salaries in the US and other developed countries.
