Bangalore, Nov 7: US-based Delphi Automotive Systems has set up its global technical centre here. The company will invest $25 million in the centre over a period of three years.Briefing the media in Bangalore on Tuesday, Delphi executive vice-president David Wohleen said the centre would be upgraded as the global technology hub of the company. The new facility would initially focus on embedded software development for automotive controllers such as engine and powertrain controllers, antilock brakes, instrument clusters, air control and mobile multi-media systems, he said.
The centre would also develop technologies including computer-aided design and engineering. The centre was part of a concentrated effort to meet the increasing demand for software in the automotive environment, Mr Wohleen said.
With this, Delphi would have 32 such development centres across the globe. The Bangalore cenrtre would have a pesonnel strengh of 300.Mr Wohleen said Delphi had been playing a leadership role in evolving an array of innovative technologies that integrated cellular phone, audio, Internet and personal computers.
