Our eFE Bureau
Mumbai : Cheecoo Networks, which offers the Internet community a navigation, notification and communication tool called the Cheecoobar, has tied up with online advertising network companies Mediaturf, Intercept Consultancy and media2india.net for ad sales. "Several dotcoms are now outsourcing functionalities which are not their core focus areas. In a dotcom, advertising is the main source of revenue. And in India the advertising revenues have not grown as much as they ought to. Since sales was not our focus area, we decided to outsource this particular function," said Ms Neepa Nair, Cheecoo Sheikh, marketing. Cheecoo Networks will become a part of the advertisers portfolio offering. The online advertising networks will select the advertisers for Cheecoo depending upon the demography of the surfers. The revenues, she added are commission-based. Cheecoo Networks will soon be launching targeted e-mail for the advertisers. These are e-mail that are sent to target profiles specified by the advertiser. Cheecoowould be paid for every e-mail send by them. Other products are in the pipeline. Among the products that are developed by the company for the advertisers is `Zero Wastage Advertising' through Cheecoobar. Here, the information that the user provides while registering for the Cheecoobar, enables Cheecoo Networks to deliver targeted information and advertising to the user. Advertisers on Cheecoo get an opportunity to display their messages, while the cheecoobar is still active on the user's screen. This, for the advertiser, is targeted advertising. Since the impressions are delivered in a targeted manner, there is zero wastage of impressions. Copyright © 2000 Indian Express Newspapers (Bombay) Ltd.
