RBI report finds increase in NPAs of commercial banks
The gross non-performing assets (NPAs), of the scheduled commercial banks stood at Rs 60,841 crore at end-March 2000, as compared to Rs 58,722 crore in the corresponding period of the last fiscal.

FIs' net profits down by 2.2% to Rs 3,163 cr, spreads fall to 1.80%
Financial Institutions (FI) showed a decline in their net profits during the year 1999-2000 by 2.2% to Rs 3,163.4 crore from Rs 3,232.9 crore in 1998-99. Spreads of FI also witnessed a noticeable decline during the period to 1.80% from 2.25%.
