Soffia Software unveils mobile computing software

Mumbai : Soffia Software Limited, a software product development company has launched its mobile computing software (WAP enabled)- Surveylance for insurance and WAPDBTool, a rapid action development tool (RAD) for developing WAP applications.

Soffia's solution in mobile computing would facilitate the deployment, implementation and management of secure access to host environments from personal computers and thin client devices.

Surveylance facilitates communication between the Insurance Company and the Surveyors. It enables the surveyors to download data related to motor accident claims, insurance policy from the insurance office database to his device through a serial link, landline or wireless telephone link.

Surveylance is a hand-held device-based software with a front end that runs on Windows CE based palmtop device and the corresponding back-end software that can be integrated with any standard Server Database.

WAPDBTool is a software that serves as a Rapid Application Development (RAD) tool for developing WAP applications. This tool provides generic software that allows to do a search and related operations on any standard-compliant back-end database through a WAP-enabled mobile phone device. Based on XML technology this tool is implemented using ASP/JSP technologies. WAPDBTool has customised WMLScript for validating user input and accessing facilities of the user agent. This tool can be used for developing application not only for cellular phones but for other hand-held devices as well.

Speaking to eFe Mr R Venkata Subramani, managing director Soffia Software Limited said that the domain area currently being worked on by the company is mobile computing, after which they plan to focus on WAP. The company will be starting projects on Computer Telephony integration (CTI) and developing software for call center business. Telephone billing and operation support system and VoIP application are the domains that they will be concentrating on in the future. Mr Subramani said that they are currently talking to two large US corporations for their telecom applications business and would announce tie-ups in Japan and the US for their application in the next couple of months.
