Escotel expands service network to 109 towns
Cellular operator Escotel has launched its services in Dabwali, Haryana, increasing its service network to 109 towns in the country. Escotel has the largest network encompassing 20 towns in the state of Haryana. Mr Manoj Kohli, executive director and CEO, Escotel, said in Chandigarh on Wednesday that the company's strategy was guided by the new telecom policy. He said Escotel's investment in Haryana was Rs 265 crore. Motorola, Cisco in JV for GPRS, 3G applications
Telecom company Motorola and networking major Cisco have formed a joint venture to provide General Packet Radio System (GPRS) and 3G applications for mobile communications. Under the alliance, the company has set up centres of excellence in the United Kingdom, US and Japan for providing demonstration and testing facilities in a range of technologies and an environment for application and service development and testing.
Paswan moots cooperation with Finland in telecom
Minister of Communications, Mr Ram Vilas Paswan on his whistle-stop tour of Europe, has mooted the idea of a formal cooperation between India and Finland in the telecom arena under the framework of the Indo-Finnish Joint Commission. Mr Paswan met Finland's Minister of Transport and Communications, Mr Olli-Pekka Heinonen in Helsinki on Monday night. He also met Mr Reijo Svensson, CEO of TRAI's Finnish counterpart, Telecommunication Administration Centre.

Ranbaxy is set to launch a specialised Website before the actual launch of the Indian version of the wonder drug, Viagra. The site is named after Ranbaxy's drug's brand name, Caverta, and will be up and running after the Drug Controller General of India permits marketing of the product.
