BOBCards woos customers with innovative rewards

Mumbai, Nov 15: BOBCards Ltd - a wholly-owned subsidiary of Bank of Baroda - has drawn up an innovative loyalty and rewards programme to hike its credit-card base and usage by wooing customers from Goa and Kerala in the run-up to and during Christmas.

Says BoBCards Ltd's managing director, Ashok B Chopra, "This plan is part of Visa's campaign to be held during Christmas time from December 1 to January 31... BoBCard's customers can win points including incentive rewards. Even those wanting to apply for credit cards can get them."

According to the plan, for every hundred rupees spent, one loyalty point will be offered. BoB Cards will also be offering attractive prizes to the first hundred applicants. An add-on card will also be issued absolutely free. Moreover, the first annual membership for the first hundred applicants will be waived off.

BoBCards is the second largest credit card acquiring bank in India and the total acquired amount stood at Rs 920 crore as on March 31, 2000. It hopes to notch up Rs 1,000 crore in the forthcoming months in the acquiring business. Adds Mr Chopra: "The existing card base of the Bank is more than one lakh, fifty thousand. The growth rate of the card base is twenty per cent. And, deliquency on the cards is totally under control."
