Hyderabad, Dec 5: The Andhra Pradesh government has proposed to bring out a separate legislation for infrastructure development in the state to accelerate the sanction and implementation of mega-projects. The proposed legislation is called the Andhra Pradesh Infrastructure Development Act.The state government is of the opinion that the present set-up in the state is coming in the way of private investments in infrastructure projects proposed in the state. The proposed new legislation will act as a facilitator in the development and implementation of the proposed projects, said the state information minister N Siva Prasad.
Speaking to press persons on Monday after the cabinet meeting, Mr Siva Prasad said that the state cabinet has approved a draft policy document on Andhra Pradesh Infrastructure Development and has identified 31 mega-infrastructure projects to be implemented with private sector participation.
The state government has constituted a high-level task force with the chief secretary as its chairman. The task force will be responsible to conceptualize and implement the 31 mega-infrastructure projects with private participation.
Mr Shiva Prasad said that the task force will receive support from leading consultants Crisil, who have expertise in developing mega-infrastructure projects, along with private investments. The infrastructure projects include : airports including Hyderabad international airport, sea ports including Gangavaram port, industrial parks including Bio-technology park, Trade fairs, convention centers, water and sewerage systems, high-ways including Hyderabad to Viyayawada, Hyderabad to Tirupati to Madras.
