A portal, weassure.com, has been launched to create awareness about life insurance and provide insurance-related services. IBM India unveils new thinkpad
IBM India on Thursday launched a new thinkpad series ultra-portable notebook computer designed to provide executives on the move with a `better', extra-thin and extra-light mobile computing tool. The new X-series notebooks are slimmer than a deck of cards (about one inch thin) and are super light in weight. The new model would be available in India from the second week of this month and its prices would vary from Rs 1.6 lakh to Rs 2.2 lakh.

C-DAC launches Ism 2000 Indian language solution
Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (C-DAC), a scientific society under the IT ministry, on Thursday launched multipurpose Indian language solution ism 2000. "Ism is being positioned as a software, which provides a reliable Indian language interface to existing packages and incorporates Indian language features such as font, clipart previewer and date and time formating," Mr R K Arora, executive director of C-DAC, said.The new software also has features such as figures to word conversion and supports mail merge, Indian language spell checking and administrative language dictionaries in Microsoft word.

Global Infocom introduces I-malls
Global Infocom has launched an ambitious Internet communication concept focusing on `I', the individual, to shift paradigms from the Internet culture to one that is personalised. According to Mr Sandeep Jain, CEO, I-malls are primarily super markets which encompass information, communication and entertainment. It will speak 1001 languages and cater to individual needs, he said. These will be communication malls, where people can avail products and services related to it and communication according to their individual needs. This will be a B2B venture backed by e-commerce solutions. These will include std/isd, fax and photocopying facilities.
