Our eFE Bureau
New Delhi : CISCO Systems on Wednesday launched an Internet security blueprint called SAFE or a Secure Architecture for E-Commerce. Based on the Cisco Architecture for voice, video and integrated data (AVVID), "SAFE enables businesses to secure e-businesses, flexibly, reliably, and cost-effectively," said Mr Alok Mittal, manager-technical, Cisco Systems.According to Mr Rajeev Chopra, head - marketing, Cisco Systems (India), "In India, networks are still not secure or in a nascent stage of implementation of a security policy." A recent KPMG survey on information security practices highlights that 77 per cent of Indian organisations do not have a formal security policy document to assist them in managing the risk.Speaking at the Cisco Security Roadshow, Mr Mittal said that the SAFE blueprint will provide companies a roadmap for integrating security into the fabric of their networks. "The SAFE solution is end-to-end and will become a one-stop shop for all the Internet security needs of Indian corporates," added Mr Chopra. Its modular approach provides flexibility to customers, enabling them to adopt the modules that are appropriate for their businesses. SAFE also offers customers the flexibility to deploy AVVID infrastructures in stages according to their specific and immediate business needs. "This allows organisations to leverage their existing security infrastructure while staying within their security budgets on new e-Business projects," he explained. SAFE determines which security solutions should be included and deployed throughout a network. According to Mr Mittal, "modules" simplify security design, rollout, and management as networks evolve, the SAFE blueprint handles the distinct requirements of each network area and eliminates the need for security managers to redesign their security architectures each time a new service is added.
