Infosys Tech rated top Indian corporate house

PRESS TRUST OF INDIA
New Delhi, Dec 20 : FAR Eastern Economic Review on Wednesday rated IT company Infosys Technologies Ltd as India's top corporate house for the year 2000.

Only two years after Infosys made its debut in the 'Review 200: Asia's Leading Companies' listing, Infosys has topped India's corporate ratings this year. Reliance Industries Ltd, with interests in petrochemical, oil, gas and textile sector, has been ranked the second-best corporate house in India, followed closely by infotech company Wipro.

Making a debut appearance in fourth place was ICICI, followed by pharmaceutical company Ranbaxy Labs, ITC and Satyam Computer Services. "Infosys' meteoric rise mirrors the growth of the country's software industry, but also reflects its reputation as a leader in all the things shareholders like most: transparency, wealth creation and professional management," the Review said. While software and education company NIIT ranked eighth, two-wheeler giant Hero Honda Motors and construction and engineering company Larsen & Toubro ranked ninth and tenth respectively.
