Planning panel clears Upper Krishna Stage II

New Delhi, Dec 20: The Planning Commission has given green signal to the Upper Krishna Stage II Multipurpose project estimated to cost Rs 2,358.86 crore. The Karnataka government has been given time till March 2005 to complete the project. The state has been directed to execute the project as per the outlays approved in the state Annual Plans on year-to-year basis. An additional area of 1.97 lakh hectare will be brought under irrigation after the project is completed. About 54 TMC of Krishna water is estimated to project.
