Hyderabad, Jan 15: Rajahmundry, a town that links Vijayawada and Vishakhapatnam, may soon become a major tourist destination, attracting both domestic and international tourists, if a proposed entertainment project comes through. The Andhra Pradesh (AP) state government has entered into an agreement with a US-based NRI firm - MRP Inc, to develop an entertainment centre christened "Cotton Park", after Sir Arthur Cotton. The project is estimated to cost Rs 15 crore."The site identified for the project is located near a village called Pitchuklanka," said Ramesh K Venkat a New York-based businessman. The project will be developed on the lines of `Kishkintha' in Chennai, he added. The park is expected to be open to the public by the middle of 2002.
According to Mr Venkat, the proposed park is part of a 45-acre entertainment complex that is slated to come up on the same site. It is expected to provide direct and indirect employment to about a 1,000 people in the vicinity.
Backed by "Six Flags of America," the largest theme park in the United States, the proposed complex will include a three-star hotel, complete with holiday cottages, conference halls, a club house, a health resort, amusement park, water park, cruises, etc.
