Trigyn Technologies maps out plans to penetrate into global market
Kavitha Rajasekhar
Bangalore : Suresh Rajpal, president and CEO of Trigyn Technologies and the former Hewlett-Packard's India head who started HP's India operations, is drawing up plans for an aggressive penetration into the global technology market. On the cards are two new product divisions which are part of the company's strategy to create value for itself by spinning off its flagship products into separate companies at the right valuation, bring in investors on board and build specialised products, Mr Rajpal told The Financial Express. Trigyn is also unveiling a `virtual incubator' initative to fund employees' ventures/ideas. Picking up small equity stakes in start-ups in exchange for technology services is also another plan. Trigyn has currently picked up stakes three overseas start-ups. Trigyn, after merging (when it was known as Leading Edge Systems) last year with a wireless technology start-up eCapital in a deal valued at Rs 950 crore, has just completed the first spin-off of its wireless unified messaging platformproduct eVector into a new company (with top notch VCs including Intel Capital, Chase Capital Partners and Reuters on board). The two new divisions marked out are -- Kontact Software -- an alliance with US-based Systemex (which hold 33 per cent of the division) for the jointly developed eCRM product and a second division (to be formed in a month) for its convergent billing solution -- Apollo.``Valuation is a key for a spin-off strategy. But for the moment both the divisions will be closely held within the Trigyn group and the products will be rolled out in the global markets,'' he said. For its eCRM product, the company currently has one major customer site deployment at Systemex while for Apollo Trigyn has deployed the convergent billing solution for Euphony, a UK-based network operator and has recently signed on RPG in India. ``Apollo is the only billing product that can provide integrated billing options for services offered by ISP, ASP, wireless service providers, etc. It can also be enabled for e-payment. We are targeting full service providers, portals and other large service providers for the product globally,'' Mr Rajpal said. Another key benefit of the product was that it could integrate billing based on application and usage and was therefore a product suitable for ASP's and Internet service providers, he added. According to reports from customer deployment sites, the product duringthe test-run churned out billing at over 90 per cent accuracy rate, he mentioned. ``We have an organisation bubbling with ideas. Our plans are therefore to both build and encourage our employees to build cutting edge `future proof' technology products,'' Mr Rajpal said. Trigyn is targeting revenues of over $40 million this year. Copyright © 2001 Indian Express Newspapers (Bombay) Ltd.
