Pune : Indiatransportal.com, the vertical portal on the transport and logistic industry, has tied up with B2B portals chemicalgateway.com, petrosilicon.com and a paper industry portal for enabling their e-fulfillment. "Considering logistics is the most critical bottleneck of various vertical digital marketplaces, we will be offering exclusive logistics interface for B2B sites," Mr Alok Sethi, CEO of indiatransportal.com, said.Talks are on with other major engineering, commodities and apparel industry portals to expand this service. For this, indiatransportal will be servicing the B2C segment through tie-ups with express cargo and courier service providers. However, the major focus will continue to be on the bulk transport sector because of the large volumes involved. For this segment, the portal has launched the first-ever independent and neutral freight exchange service - National Freight Exchange 1.0.
Mr Sanjeev Rao, MD of Transportal Portal Private Limited, which manages the portal, said the freight exchange will work as a collaborative marketplace for negotiating with multiple transport and logistic providers and service users on a common single platform.
The portal is targeted at Indian transport operators and fleet owners and business houses and related industries such as transport vehicle manufacturers, finance, insurance and their party logistic companies. It will reduce negotiation and transaction time and costs and bring in a fair amount of transparency in the business by eliminating unnecessary layers presently in the industry. The portal has already registered 700 plus transporters across the country and many have started putting in their request for quotes.
