Mumbai : With capitalised billings of Rs 98 crore, Saatchi & Saatchi Ltd has recently bagged the advertising account of TVS Suzuki Ltd (motorcycles). Prior to the shift, the Rs 25-crore account was handled by Ambience D'Arcy for the last ten years.According to Mr V Shantakumar, managing director, Saatchi & Saatchi, the agency won the mobike account amidst stiff competition. "We are happy to win this account and it will be exciting to work for a happening category such as mobikes,"adds Mr Shantakumar.
When contacted Mr Ashok Kurien, chairman & managing director, Ambience Advertising, expressed shock over the recent shift of the TVS Suzuki account."We have handled this account for over 10 years. Over the years, we have created successful brands such as Suzuki Fiero and Suzuki Samurai. It was wonderful working with TVS. We still do not know why the company has suddenly shifted the account from us," says Mr Kurien.
For its new client, Saatchi & Saatchi will be launching a new print campaign very soon, informs Mr Shantakumar. "Recently, the Suzuki Fiero has been adjudged the "Bike Of the Year" by Business Standard and Tata's Overdrive magazine. Our objective is to announce this award through a print campaign," explains Mr Shantakumar.
At present, Saatchi & Saatchi handles accounts which include, BPL Ltd (refrigerators & washing machines), Scullers, Maruti Suzuki Wagon R and Indusleague among others.
Incidentally, it's the first time that Saatchi & Saatchi is handling aresonably big mobike account, says Mr Shantakumar.Due to global realignment of accounts, Ambience D'arcy has bagged a part of the Philips advertising account. According to Mr Kurien, Ambience will work on its new ad account from June 2001.
