The Vadodara-based Indian Petrochemicals Corporation Ltd (IPCL) has posted an impressive 118 per cent growth in net profit at Rs 23.17 crore during the last quarter ended December 31, 2000 as compared to Rs 10.59 crore in the corresponding period last fiscal.The company's operating profit during Q3 stood at 253 crore, a 34 per cent rise from Rs 189 crore the same quarter the previous year. Its sales has registered a 52 per cent jump to Rs 1,168 crore from Rs 768 crore over the same period.
As far as its performance during the cumulative first nine months period is concerned, it posted a net profit of Rs 150 crore as compared to Rs 113 crore during the previous year, and sales of Rs 3,696 crore as compared to Rs 2,690 crore the previous year.
ITC Bhadrachalam turns around, posts Rs 10.5cr net
ITC Bhadrachalam Paperboards Ltd has reported a turnaround in net profits to Rs 10.51 crore in the third quarter to December 31, 2000, as against Rs 3.56 crore net loss in the same period last year. The net sales increased by 36.6 per cent to Rs 162.34 crore for the quarter to December 31, 2000, from Rs 118.83 crore in the same period in fiscal 1999-2000. ITC Bhadrachalam, which was on the growth path since the first quarter of the current fiscal to June 30, 2000 continued its upward trend. For the first time in recent years, after completion of the company's Rs 657-crore expansion plan, the company reported profits.
EID Parry net down 22%
Murugappa group flagship EID Parry (India) Ltd (EIDP) has posted a 10 per cent growth in sales for the third quarter ended December 31, 2000 with the turnover touching Rs 981 crore as compared to Rs 890 crore in the same period last year. But net profit has declined by about 22 per cent to Rs 32.75 crore from Rs 42.39 crore in the corresponding period of last year.
TNPL posts Rs 20.3 cr net
TAMIL Nadu Newsprint and Papers Ltd (TNPL) has recorded a sales turnover of Rs 148.24 crore (Rs 113 crore) for the third quarter ended December 2000, an increase of 32 per cent over the corresponding period last year. Net profit zoomed to Rs 20.30 crore (Rs 1.03 crore). Exports accounted for Rs 12.21 crore.
Chemplast Q3 sales dip 6%
CHEMPLAST Sanmar has reported a loss of Rs 0.47 crore for the third quarter ended December 2000, as against a profit of Rs 7.20 crore during the corresponding quarter last year. Net sales were lower at Rs 89.85 crore (Rs 95.94 crore), a decrease of six per cent.
Sonata Q3 net up 59% SONATA Software has posted a 40 per cent increase in its total income during quarter three at Rs 29.59 crore against Rs 21.08 crore in the corresponding period last year. During the period, the company's profit after tax before providing for bad doubtful debts grew by 59 per cent at Rs 9.4 crore (Rs 6.23 crore). JVSL posts Rs 29 cr lossJINDAL Vijayanagar Steel has registered a net loss of Rs 20.57 crore for the third quarter ended December 31, 2000, as against a net profit of Rs 29.03 crore in the corresponding period last year. Net sales for the third quarter increased 42 per cent to Rs 349.58 crore as against Rs 245 crore in the same period last year. Interest cost in the third quarter dipped nine per cent to Rs 47.53 crore as against Rs 51.99 crore last year.
Other income for the third quarter stood at Rs 50 crore. Raw material cost for the quarter was up 40 per cent to Rs 233.78 crore as compared to Rs 165.87 in the same period last year.
PNCL net up15%
Pritish Nandy Communication has reported 13 per cent increase in its net profit at Rs 1.99 crore during the quarter ended December 31, 2000 as against Rs 1.76 crore recorded in the corresponding period a year ago.
Profit after tax for the year till date has risen by 57 per cent. it has touched Rs 3.24 crore up to December 31, 2000 as against the same period for the last year.
Melstar posts Rs 2.41 cr profit
Melstar Information Technologies has posted a net of Rs 2.41 crore for the quarter ended December 2000. The company's revenue from operations for the third quarter was Rs 19.42 crore, which reflects a 100 per cent growth over the income from operations for the same quarter in the previous year.
Aggregate revenue from operations for the year until December 2000 was Rs 47.44 crore.
Apollo Tyres net at Rs 1.76 cr
Apollo Tyres has posted a net profit of Rs.1.76 crore for the quarter ended December 31, 2000 as compared to Rs.19.23 crore in the quarter ended December 31, 1999. Total income for the quarter ended December 2000 is higher at Rs 226.63 crore, compared to Rs 223.62 crore in the quarter ended December 1999.
