Mumbai, Jan 19: The National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (Nabard) has been giving assistance to state governments under its Rural Infrastructure Development Fund (RIDF) scheme. Till December 2000 Nabard has sanctioned Rs 16,401 crore to more than six lakh projects in various states.Further Nabard has sanctioned Rs 395.68 crore from RIDF-VI for creation of rural infrastructure in eight states - Andhra Pradesh (Rs 76.55 crore), Arunachal Pradesh (Rs 42.32 crore), Goa (Rs 2.17 crore), Himachal Pradesh (Rs 39.83 crore), Jammua & Kashmir (Rs 3.48 crore), Karnataka (Rs 3.66 crore), Maharashtra (Rs 176.30 crore), and Uttar Pradesh (Rs 51.37 crore).
Most of the projects were for providing connectivity and increasing irrigation facilities in the rural areas.
