The company has already set up its liaison office in Pune, for sales and support of its design software products in the Indian market. While talking to The Financial Express, the sales director Delcam Plc, Mr Tim Mitchell said that the company was planning to set up a software development facility in India and was currently evaluating the cost and strategic advantages of setting up Indian development operations. However, he did not give any other details, saying that it was too early to talk about the project. Delcam's CAD/CAM software for used the three dimensional design, manufacturing and inspectionof complex shapes. Delcam was selling its products through resellers in India a few years back, but the the arrangement did not work well, as there was no company representative in India to look after the sale and support, said Mr Mitchell. The company has now appointed a country manager and a team of sales and support engineers, who will operate from the Pune office. Delcam is also planning to set up its offices in other metropolitan cities by the end of this year. Copyright © 2001 Indian Express Newspapers (Bombay) Ltd.
