Rahul Bajaj may take the back seat
He may have said it in a lighter vein, but the Bajaj CMD is in a mood to handover reins to son, Rajeev and take a back seat in the company. Used to working in a market where there was a ten-year delivery period, Mr Bajaj quips, "I cannot function in today's market" as he threatens to hang his boots. Mr Rahul Bajaj still has five and a half years to go in what is his sixth term as CMD of Bajaj Auto. "I have no desire to get another term as managing director," said Mr Bajaj and adds he would be content remaining chairman with Rajeev as the MD. "I can leave earlier if they are ready," said Mr Bajaj.Copyright © 2001 Indian Express Newspapers (Bombay) Ltd.
