Ajayan
Kochi : Indiavision, the Malayalam TV channel still in the embroyo form, is firming up major Gulf operations. The chairman and managing director, Mr M K Muneer, told eFE here that the channel was planning a separate channel for the Gulf. Sources in the channel said there would be a tieup with the information ministry of Bahrain for taking a few hours slot in Channel 55. It would be on the UHF band and would cater to the viewers of Bahrain, Qatar and Saudi Arabia. In Ajaman, the channel was trying for a few hours in Channel 4 and beam programmes for Muscat and the remaining countries in West Asia. These two tieups would make the channel have a standing in the Gulf, the sources added. Dr Muneer said that as there were a good number of Keralites in these areas, there would be special programmes to suit their tastes. Besides they could also view the programmes of IndiaVision channel. Dr Muneer said the channel had already booked for the APR1 transponder.

There would be the two-way, studio-floor link, communication channel. This would help the channel have an interactive platform. The channel planned a loop from London after which programmes could be viewed all over the world. The channel would start test beaming by April, he added. There would also be a English news programme aimed at the second-generation Malayalees.
