OTC continues to record moderate volumes

Mumbai, Jan 22: OTC Exchange of India continued to record moderate volumes in its novel evening trade session with gross turnover of Rs 12 crore.It also continued to attract close to 100 brokers and about 200 terminals were active during Monday's evening session.

Wipro Ltd was the most active counter which clocked the turnover of Rs 87.59 lakh with Satyam Computer coming second, recording a turnover of Rs 67.41 lakh. HFCL was the third most active counter with a turnover of Rs 63.21 lakh while Global Telesystems clocked a volume of Rs 61.72 lakh.

Wipro closed at Rs 2,892 with a volume of 3,026 shares, Satyam closed at Rs 427.75 with 15,798 shares changing hands, HFCL closed at Rs 1,285 with a volume of 4,996 shares and Global recorded volume of 8,244 shares and closed at Rs 749.60.

BSE records highest volume The Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) recorded highest number of trades on the first day of new settlement which began on Monday. The exchange recorded 19.39 crore trades from an earlier high of 17.68 crore trades. Its number of trades during the single day also surpassed nine lakh trades per day mark. It recorded 9.01 lakh trades from an earlier high of 8.79 lakh trades.

However, BSE's trading volumes which was highest in it's history at more than Rs 7,000 crore earlier this year stood at Rs 6,559.15 crore on Monday.
