Our Marketing Bureau
Mumbai, Jan 22: To finance its expansion plans, HansaVision, promoted by RK Swamy and BBDO Worldwide, plans to come up with an initial public offer (IPO) in the second quarter of the year.

Announcing HansVision plans, Mr Srinivasan Swamy, managing director of HansaVision, said the company plans to tripple the volume of production and even go international in the coming months.

HansaVision expects to close the year ending March 31, 2001, with revenues of Rs 23.5 crore and a profit before tax of Rs 4.6 crore. It is targetting an equity offering to the public in the second quarter of April-June to fund its growth plans, Mr Swamy said. Set up in 1986, HansaVision is currently a leading television programme producer and marketer in south India.

Mr Swamy said currently, HansaVision handles over 22 hours of programming every week. "We have firm plans to increase this to over 30 hours in the next couple of months," Mr Swamy said.

As part of its future plans, HansaVision has finalised production plans for a-made-for-TV film project with international cast for international TV audience. "As a multi-lingual production, this will be released theatrically and on TV in India. The marketing effort for this will commence in the second half of this year," added Mr Swamy.

For funding its growth plans, HansaVision requires Rs 30 crore. The issue size is estimated to be Rs 31 crore, said Mr Swamy.

Curently, HansaVision owns a content library of 830 hours of programming and has TV rights for 110 feature films.
