Mukesh Ambani in biotech committee

Sanjay Jog
Mumbai, Jan 22: Leading industrial tycoons like Reliance Industries managing director Mukesh Ambani, former Hindustan Lever CEO Ashok Ganguly, Swati Piramal, Leela Poonawala (ex-Alfa Laval) are likely to be appointed on the high-level task force on bio-technology chaired by the director-general of Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) RA Mashelkar.

Mantralaya sources told The Financial Express that the task force would also comprise the vice-chancellor of Jawaharlal Nehru University A Datta, and the Pune University vice-chancellor and director of National Chemical Laboratories. The task force would primarily look into opportunities and potential for investment in bio-technology, the likely growth in this sector and the need for a special policy for an "hassle-free" environment. The government's decision to form such a task force is a follow-up of the recently announced new industrial and labour policy.
