Mumbai, Jan 23: Bullion: Gold and silver prices finished firm on the bullion market here.Standard gold lifted by Rs 5 at Rs 4,445 per 10 gm. Physical buying was slow but traders reported speculative interest, amidst tight supplies followed by news of rally in global prices. Gold .22 carat was steady at Rs 4,110 per 10 gm.
Prices of gold biscuit (116.50 gm.) held at Rs 51,950 per piece. and hardened from $266.40 to $269 per troy ounce, in the wake of brisk response to the auction of 25 tonne of gold, by Bank of England, which was oversubscribed.
OIL, OILSEEDS: Groundnut oil closed on a steady note on the oil, oilseeds market here.
Castorseed and its oil however ruled firm in the ready delivery and prices reacted in the forward section.
Groundnut oil maintained at Rs 305 per 10 kg amidst slow transactions. In Rajkot it was placed lower by Rs 5 at Rs 515 per 15 kg.
