GVFL invests Rs 4 cr in IceNet
Our eFE BureauAhmedabad : GVFL Ltd, which has invested over Rs 140 crore in 50-odd companies through its four venture capital arms since its inception in 1992, has made a fresh investment of Rs 4 crore in IceNet.Net Ltd, a leading Internet service provider of Gujarat. A pioneer in venture finance in the country, GVFL (formerly Gujarat Venture Finance Ltd) has already picked up equity in several IT-related companies, including Akshay Software Technologies, e-Infochips, Deccanet Designs, Parsec Technologies, IIS Scientific Computing, Net4Nuts Limited and Anupam Net. According to IceNet partner Hemal Patel and managing director Chirag Mehta, the increased equity base would be utilised to set up two more Internet satellite gateways of 8/2 mbps capacity at Vadodara and Surat and the state's first Internet Data Centre (IDC) and Network Operation Centre (NOC) in Ahmedabad. It proposes to expand Internet on Cable to the state's fourth largest city at Rajkot. IceNet is at present engaged in major customer segments like dial-upservices, Lease Lines, ISDN Lines, Web Hosting, Server co-location and Virtual Private Network (VPN) solutions, besides 24-hour on-line Internet on Cable through Metropolitan Area Network (MAN) technology.
