Calcutta HC order to UBI chairman
Kolkata, Jan 24: The Calcutta High Court on Wednesday issued an injunction restraining chairman and managing director of the United Bank of India (UBI), Biswajit Chowdhury, from making any derogatory statement against the management of Dunlop India Limited.Justice Dilip Kr Seth of the Calcutta High Court passed the order in a suit filed by the management of Dunlop India against Mr Chowdhury, claiming Rs 50 crore as damage. The petitioner alleged in the suit that the UBI chairman had made a public statement that the present management of the company "lacked character, capacity and competence." The petition also said that the UBI chairman cum managing director had alleged that the company had siphoned out Rs 100 crore from the banks.
