Deloitte to focus on SAP in India -- Brian Seftel
Priya Srinivasan
Mumbai: "THE key reason for my visit is to assist the Indian practice of Deloitte Haskins and Sells to provide services around SAP to the overseas clients and initiate a process of knowledge transference" says Mr Brian Seftel, Partner Deloitte Touche Tohamatsu - Enterprise Risk Services, Sydney. Mr Seftel also heads the Processes and Systems Integrity initiative for Deloitte in Asia Pacific. His strategy and logic for the knowledge transference model is simple. "India has technical strengths and we hope to leverage that to service off shore clients, this will also help the firm earn the currency to import staff from our overseas offices who in turn can come down and train the local staff to service domestic clients with our complete offering" he explains. Mr Seftel hopes to get this process started with the PSI component of the business which he heads for the region. "We will target companies who employ SAP, want to upgrade SAP in a manner which calls for risk assessment and of course companies who do notemploy SAP yet". While the initial round of projects that the company will take on while initiating the knowledge transference model may not be major revenue earners, it is an investment into focussed training according to Mr Seftel. "We believe in shared resources and shared knowledge which is the distinct advantage that a firm like ours enjoys with operations worldwide" says Mr Seftel. The firm's global practice which straddles 40 countries has both IT and non-IT components. The IT components comprise assurance services for computer based systems, business continuity management, security for safe commercial computing and processes and systems integrity.
