Zee Interactive Learning to cater to telecom, call centre business

Neeraja Kumar
New Delhi : Zee Interactive Learning Systems Limited, the education arm of Zee Telefilms Limited, is planning to train people in the field of telecom and call centre business to meet the growing demand of qualified professionals in these fast growing sectors. According to Ms Uma Ganesh, president and CEO, Zee Interactive Learning Systems Limited, the company is planning to use all its existing channels - television, Internet, and learning centres for these projects.

The company also plans to deploy its training programs on the Intranets of target companies. While the call centre training plans have not been finalised as of now, "since we are still talking to companies operating call centres," according to Ms Ganesh, the company has firmed up its plans for imparting telecom training. It is planning to invest Rs 25 lakh in the project, which will be rolled out by June and hope to reach "a few million people". "Given the new telecom policies, this sector is going to grow exponentially in the coming few years. And there will be a huge demand for a people trained in telecom," said Ms Ganesh. However, the training project will be oriented more towards creating basic telecom awareness among support staff, in areas like marketing, HR , etc., instead of training hardcore telecom experts. "Two years ago, we did a similar program to train a large number of professionals for the automobile industry, which was a great success. We hope to replicate this in the telecom and call centreindustries," she added.
