New Delhi, Feb 12: Indian Farmers Fertiliser Cooperative (Iffco) has set up a Rs 20-crore fund for providing relief in the quake-ravaged areas of Gujarat and to help victims of other natural calamities as well.The trust christened `Kisan Sewa Trust' would provide immediate assistance to quake-hit areas in Kutch. Announcing this on Monday, the Minister for Chemicals and Fertiliser Sukhdev Singh Dhindsa told the consultative committee of his ministry that two fertiliser majors Iffco and Kribhco would contribute Rs 10 crore and Rs 5 crore, respectively, for the immediate fund for the trust. Employees of Kribhco and Iffco would contribute Rs 1 crore, while cooperative societies and others would contribute Rs 4 crore.
Iffco has decided to adopt some of the affected villages, which need immediate attention for extended period, he said, adding that the villages identified for adoption included Padana, Tappar, Sapeada, Ratnal, Dhrang, Nagavalaviya and Hirapur.
