Sun Microsystems has new country head (marketing)
Sun Microsystems Inc has appointed KP Unnikrishnan as Country Head- marketing. In his role, Mr Unnikrishnan will be responsible for strategizing and directing the marketing initiatives of Sun Microsystems in India with a focus on building the brand among customers, media and the market at large. He will direct all marketing activities and strategies for Sun. Prior to this appointment, he was heading the marketing operations for Parametric Technology Corporation for India as well as the SAARC region.

New appointments at Unimobile
Unimobile Inc, a provider of advanced wireless data services that leverages a universal global platform, on Thursday announced the appointments of Gloria Maceiko as Vice President of Sales and Business Development and Dr Christopher Kantarjiev as chief technology officer.

Dun and Bradstreet offers solution against cybercrimes
The leading international information provider, Dun & Bradstreet, has forecast growth in cybercrimes in the coming years and says lack of law enforcement measures in this regard has led to drop in arrests of these wrong doers. In its study titled `Fraud in the New Economy' it says though much of the online fraud has been on the lines of the old scam methodology, the new cybercrimes have nevertheless started emerging. Dun and Bradstreet which has an agreement with the Export Credit Guarantee Corporation, says that retailers, who were confronted with severe credit losses in the early 90's embraced software-based modelling system. Called `neural' networks, this makes it possible to identify people who are most probably fraudsters, it said adding such solutions are now being applied to consumer e-commerce.

Smartcc.com unveils `green' pre-paid cash card
Smartcc.com, the Bangalore-based company offering Internet payment solutions, has launched the `green' pre-paid cash card for the Internet. In the introductory phase `green' will be available in denominations of Rs 100, Rs 250 and Rs 500. These cards are envisaged as the ideal Internet payment solution for developing countries like India and China, which have low credit/debit card penetration levels. Green can be used as a payment option in nine of the leading sites in India which offer online shopping including fabmart.com, lexsite.com, musicworld4u.com, rediff.com, bargainsbazar.com and malamall.com.

Wipro Tech bags Scottish Parliament contract
Wipro Technologies has been awarded a five year contract by the Scottish Parliament to provide IT support services and consultancy. The NESSI (network security and systems integration) contract awarded to Wipro on the basis of a global tender process, involves end-to-end infrastructure management services for the Parliament.
