Baan set to launch iBaan suite of products by the month-end

Hyderabad : Baan Company, the wholly-owned subsidiary of London-headquartered Invensys plc, a global leader in the automation and controls industry, is rolling out suite of products under the brand name iBaan. This new generation product line from Baan will be launched in the Asia-Pacific region towards the end of this month, said Mr AV Ramam, General Manager of Baan Info Systems India Ltd, while speaking to eFE. Going from a transition beyond ERP to `C-commerce' or collaborative commerce, iBaan improves the ability to integrate and communicate quickly across the supply and demand chain network, he said. "iBaan is the result of two-year in investment in research and development and will provide total solution for big corporates, he said. New next generation products are likely to be rolled from the Hyderabad R&D centre, which was set up with an investment of $4 million and Baan is gearing up for complete solution in Internet products with technology in place," he said.Explaining about iBaan, he said it allows businesses to collaborate with their suppliers and customers over the Internet and the solutions are based on Baan's proven experience in enterprise resource planning (ERP), supply chain management, customer relationship management, e-business and now c-commerce. From e-procurement to delivery management, iBaan solutions delivers applications, business intelligence in a user-focussed environment, he said. With new architecture, collaboration technique, integration capability and functionality required for e-business, iBaan provides solutions which are based on a solid technology framework in a Internet collaboration and goes beyond a traditional static supply chain management. Speaking about the company, he said the total sales grew to $100 million, and it is expected that Baan is expected to breakeven in the quarter from April to June 2001 after nine quarters of operating losses. In the last six months, Baan has signed 12 contracts worth $1 million and has won 162new customers since its acquisition by Invensys for $700 million in September 2000. Licence revenues trebled to $32 million with an increased proportion in sales in supply chain management and business areas. With 275 people in the R&D division in Hyderabad, it is also likely to be increased by another 40 people this quarter for targeting big customers with standard product with customisation, he added.
