Star to hike subscription rates for cable operators by 30 pc from March 1
Another channel war may be in the offing with Star planning to hike its subscription rates. In a written communication, Star has informed cable operators across the country that it is increasing the subscription rates for its bouquet by 30 per cent from March 1. Although it hasn't specified any amount, the increase works out to Rs 7.50. So, from Rs 24.75 per subscriber home per month, Star will increase its subscription rate to around Rs 32. According to an industry source, Star wanted to fix its subscription rate at $1 (Singapore) and now it has achieved that objective.

BSNL vs TRAI: TDSAT defers hearing till Februay 23
Telecom Disputes Special Appellate Tribunal (TDSAT) has deferred its interim order on the case filed by the Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) against the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) directive ordering it to extend its revised STD charges to subscribers of private telecom operators. The case has been deferred till February 23, Friday. Justice Sen, who heads the TDSAT, also ruled that the stay order granted against any penal action against the BSNL also continues. In a hearing, which was held on Thursday, Justice Sen decided that the final hearing of the case will be held on March 14.

FIPB yet to hear from I&B Ministry on Nine Broadcasting
The Foreign Investment Promotion Board (FIPB) has not received any reply from the Information and Broadcasting Ministry, despite being given several opportunities to provide its comments on the application submitted by Nine Broadcasting (India) Pvt Ltd. According to the FIPB, the I&B Ministry was asked whether the activities of Nine Broadcasting (India) Pvt Ltd came under the category of film production and advertisement. As there was no reply from the I&B Ministry, FIPB decided to withdraw the proposal from the agenda and examine it on file.

Govt plans to set up techno-commercial incubators
The Government has proposed to set up `Technology Business Incubators in various parts of the country involving over Rs 200 crore for 100 incubators in three years aiming to boost the technology development stage and to complete the technological ideas for developing technologies.
