The company has signed an agreement to take over EDM enabling it to achieve its objective of expanding into international markets and consolidating its leadership in the domestic market, an official release from WeP said.

WeP managing director Ram N Agarwal said: "Apart from the expansion into international markets, the merger of EDM is a rich addition to our R&D and manufacturing capabilities. We shall build upon the existing international market of EDM in Japan, Germany and other European countries".

WeP and Godrej & Boyce have been working together in the area of peripheral products for the last three years. The takeover will be effective after the necessary statutory approvals.
