Hyderabad, Feb 23: A new telemedicine model called eEmCare (Emergency Care), using the convergence of telecommunications, computer and medical technologies, has been successfully tried out by CDR Hospitals in association with drcdr eCare.com here on Friday.Addressing the press conference, Dr C Dayakar Reddy, chairman, said this online system has been developed indigenously to help improve efficiency and effectiveness of emergency healthcare services in the remote areas on real time basis.
The eEmCare works through real time monitoring of all vital signs of life, and nursing assessment of emergency patients admitted in a remote area hospital. This is done by connecting the remote care unit (RCU) to mission critical centre (MCC) at a tertiary hospital through virtual private network (VPN) using Vsat technology, he said.
eEmCare will handle all critical issues by leveraging the new and emerging technologies in telemedicine and remote care. This model costs less than half the normal cost, he claimed.
The company plans to network 25 hospitals in two to three years' time in the state and install the total set up worth Rs 30 lakh free of cost at each hospital. The company planning to commercialise the new system in four months' time, he said.
