Coke cuts prices of Fanta, Sprite Soft drink major Coca Cola has dropped the price of its two non-cola brands Fanta and Sprite by around Re 1 each in Delhi and West Bengal in the standard 300ml bottle. The new MRP for both the brands has been fixed at Rs 8. While the Coke spokesperson attributed the price drop in Fanta as a seasonal strategy to spur volumes, he did not confirm the price cut undertaken by the company for its other brand Sprite. Meanwhile, industry sources say that Coke has followed its competitor Pepsi which is also believed to have dropped the price of its orange drink Mirinda. Pepsi spokesperson, however, denied the news. Coke's announcement of the price cut comes as a rude shock to the industry which is already reeling under pressure because of the high excise and sales tax structure. Early this month, the two companies increased prices of their cola brands Coke and Pepsi by Re 1 in key markets including Delhi.BPCL offer for Petrocard users Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd has announced a special offer to widen its Petro Card user base.
