TEMA plans to expand marketing push

New Delhi : The Indian telecom equipment manufacturers will now widen the marketing of their products to target non-BSNL and non-MTNL telecos such as those from the infrastructure sector. Speaking about the shift in strategy, Mr Arun Khanna, president Telecom Equipment Manufacturers Association (TEMA) said that, "Till recently, the major focus of this Association was the DoT and MTNL, but with liberalization of the procurement policies of the Government, we have increasingly felt the need to interact with other major user organizations of their telecom network and facilities." With privatisation and liberalization of the telecom sector, even Defence, Railways, GAIL, Power Grid Corporation, etc have also entered telecom market, said Mr Khanna,at a conference held in New Delhi on February 23, to ascertain the expectations of the new customers.Copyright © 2001 Indian Express Newspapers (Bombay) Ltd.
