New delhi, Feb 25: Liquor companies have set up a task force that will look into the needs and demands of the spirits segment after the lifting of Quantitative Restrictions (QRs).The task force will consist of representatives of the All India Distillers Association (AIDA) and the Confederation of Indian Alcoholic Beverages Companies (CIABC) and an independent consultant -- RV Subramaniam.
The task Force for spirits will meet in the next few days and give their representation to the Department of Food Processing, Department of Chemicals and Petrochemicals and the commerce ministry.
The industry will also be setting up another task forces - for the beer industry. Currently they are working on constituting the members for these task forces.
Sources said that this task force will have representatives of All India Breweries Association (AIBA) and United Breweries among others.
Theindustry has already constituted a task for the wine segment. This task force which has representatives from Champagne Indage, Grover Vineyards and United Breweries are working on pursing the government delink wine from hard spirits. It is also asking for a higher duty structure on imported wine.
The primary aim of the task force is to look into the demands of both the domestic and multinational liquor companies who currently refuse to see eye to eye on almost all the issues.
