ESPN bags Asian satellite rights for Formula One championships
ESPN Star Sports has acquired the Asian (including for India) cable and satellite rights to the FIA Formula One World Championships for 2001-2005. the five-year deal represents the continuation of the successful partnership between ESPN Star Sports and Formula One that has seen viewership grow by nearly 10 per cent in the space of a single year (1999-2000). Mr Rik Dovey, ESPN Star Sports Managing Director, says: ``F-1 knows we have the best distribution of any sports networks in Asia and they appreciate the value we bring to their product through our superior production, expert commentary and pre and post-race support programming.'' Formula One will be broadcast live on Star Sports Asia and Star Sports India each fortnight.

Version 1.5 of intelligent platform management interface available
Intel Corporation, Hewlett-Packard Company, NEC Corporation and Dell Computer Corporation announced availability of version 1.5 of Intelligent Platform Management Interface (IPMI) specification. IPMI defines common interfaces to "intelligent" hardware used to monitor a server's physical health characteristics, such as temperature, voltage, fans, power supplies and chassis. These capabilities provide information that enables system management, recovery and asset tracking, which help drive down the total cost of ownership (TCO).
