Pune, March 4 : India was adopting a comprehensive strategy for increasing oil production in the country in view of steep rise in the international crude prices, according to Union Minister for petroleum, Ram Naik.Talking to reporters here on Saturday, the minister said that to encourage indigenous oil production, the government has awarded 25 blocks for exploration in the deep sea in its new exploration licencing policy during the year and 25 more blocks would be awarded by September this year. For this, tenders have been taken out and road shows were done in Delhi, London, Houston, Tokyo and Japan.
He said India has also decided to undertake gas exploration projects in countries like Vietnam.
