Swatch to launch range for kids

Mona Mehta
Mumbai, March 13 : Watch manufacturing major the Swatch Group, plans to launch the "FlikFlak" range of watches for children in India this year. The price range for FlikFlak starts from Rs 1,500 onwards. According to Swatch India marketing manager Alok Dubey: "FlikFlak would neither be targeted at the premium-end nor at the mass-end of the market. The price of other competing brands targeted at the medium-to-premium end of the market ranges from Rs 700 onwards. The brands targeted at the super premium end of the market are priced from Rs 1,400 onwards."

According to Mr Dubey: "The showrooms would be franchisee-owned and operated." Besides, Swatch, the flagship brand of the Swatch Group, also introduced its spring/summer 2001 collection in India. A `Social Wardrobing' event was held at `Watches of Switzerland', a new premium retail store in Bandra, Mumbai. Spring/Summer 2001 Collection comprises `Tracolla', `Persian World', `Nrgtik', `Masking', `Gessato', `Midsummer Dream', `Scuba', `Patinette', `Lady', `Oro Meo' and `Rainbow'. The price begins from 1,500 onwards.

According to Mr Dubey: "The Spring/Summer 2001 Collection is yet another attempt by Swatch to change the habits of people around the world with an innovative product approach.
