Superdrome, Mumbai's happening entertainment centre, now has yet another hangout for just anybody who needs to unwind. Watering Hole, its new restaurant-cum-bar which opened last week, has not been designed to suit any specific theme or decor, and claims to offer good meals at affordable rates. The interiors of the restobar have been created to promote a feeling of genial informality. Wood and brick have been coupled with black, olive green, beige, peach pink, chocolate brown and burgundy. Interior designer Sonal Agarwal has been at work on Watering Hole, giving the place an air of elegance that does not, however, stifle interaction. A well-stocked bar and large french windows complete the experience.
The restaurant has 75 covers spread over an area of 1,400 sq ft. It opens at noon, giving office-goers in the Tardeo area a chance to have a quick working lunch. Of course, Superdrome's bowling alley is already a familiar hangout for those who like to spend after hours with their colleagues.
A lot of youngsters hang out here, too, which brightens the prospects for Watering Hole. Like Mr Waseem Khan, the promoter of Superdrome says, "This is a place you can just be yourself, and unwind or enjoy at any time of the day."
As for the food, Watering Hole caters a range of Oriental cuisine and finger foods apart from exotic cocktails and non-alcoholic drinks. The vegetarian soups are priced at Rs 55, while the non-vegetarian fare costs Rs 70. The starters range from Rs 95 to Rs 200, and each item in the main course, whether vegetarian or not, is priced below Rs 150. What makes Watering Hole even more reasonable is the seafood; almost every preparation is priced at Rs 200.
And yes, "no crowds, no long queues" is part of the promise.
