"Your loss is irreparable. Those who died we can't bring them back. But whatever we can do by way of building houses and other amenities like fishing boats and nets we will provide so that you can start your life afresh," he told the victims of Sunday's tsunami disaster in this fishing town in Kankyakumari district.

Accompanied by Union Ministers Sharad Pawar, Dayanidhi Maran and Prithviraj Chavan, the Prime Minister went around the relief camp, where the people who were rendered homeless by the tidal waves on Sunday were lodged in this land's end.

Semi-clad children and men and women who have lost all they had in their homes in the devastation, sought his help in reconstructing their life.
