Cuddalore (TN), January 5: Joining relief operations, Bollywood star Vivek Oberoi and his father Suresh Oberoi and their team started work at the tsunami-ravaged Thevanampattinam coastal village near here to set up temporary thatched huts to accommodate fishermen rendered homeless in the disaster.
The Oberois had been in Cuddalore last week to adopt the fishing hamlet of Thevanampattinam, but were told that they would have to get the state government's consent.
Following this, Oberoi and his team started to set up about 200 temporary thatched huts with the permission of District Collector Gagandeep Singh Bedi.
Suresh Oberoi said electricity connection was being provided to huts. Repair works of damaged buildings and family health care programme would be taken up. Funds would not be a constraint for taking up relief measures, he added.
