San Francisco, March 3: Web search leader Google Inc, locked in a fierce rivalry with Yahoo Inc, said on Wednesday it has beefed up its local search service with information from Google Maps as well as reviews and other business information.
Local search is a high priority for Web search providers, who are eager to capture new advertising niches.
Google said its reviews and other information, such as business hours, restaurant menus and hotel amenities, will be culled from a variety of sources across the Web.
Yahoo's local search currently offers map information, reviews, business hours and other similar information.
